Daphne Joy Alleges Extortion Plot Behind Viral Diddy Footage Leak
Model and entrepreneur Daphne Joy is speaking out after an alleged explicit video linked to her and one time beau Diddy began circulating online, claiming she never consented to being recorded and alleging the footage was part of a years-long extortion scheme.
In a statement shared on social media, Joy said the recording originated during a previous relationship and was later used by individuals seeking financial gain. According to Joy, she was approached by parties who attempted to extort money in exchange for keeping the footage private. She further claimed that a media outlet previously declined to publish the material after determining it was connected to what she described as revenge porn and extortion efforts.
The allegations surfaced after a video purportedly showing Joy, Sean "Diddy" Combs and adult entertainer Sly Diggler spread rapidly across social media over the weekend.
Joy described the experience as emotionally painful, saying the video's resurfacing forced her to revisit a difficult chapter of her life. She alleged that she often ignored her own boundaries in an effort to please someone she loved and characterized the renewed attention surrounding the footage as retraumatizing.
The controversy arrives amid continued public scrutiny surrounding Combs and ongoing online speculation tied to past allegations involving his private relationships. Joy has previously denied allegations that she was involved in sex work, calling such claims "100% false" and accusing critics of attempting to damage her reputation.
The viral spread of the alleged footage also prompted renewed commentary from rapper 50 Cent, Joy's former partner and the father of her son, who publicly weighed in on the controversy through social media posts posting that his son SIRE, is the real victim and that the LA courts are co-signing on their decision to leave custody of their son to Joy.
As of Monday, neither law enforcement officials nor representatives for Combs had publicly commented on Joy's latest allegations regarding the alleged extortion scheme.
